Evaluation of video

I think the planning, filming and editing of our video was quite successful. Our strengths were editing our match on action - although we didn't find it that easy to get an invisible cut, it didn't take long to get it perfect and for the scene to cut smoothly to the next - and planning - we planned the clip thoroughly, so it was easier to get the filming organised, as we knew exactly what needed to be done.
I think our main weakness was the actual filming. I think that the main reason for this is that we were all nervous about using the equipment for the first time, but after a few minutes we were fine. Next time, our use of the 180 degree rule definitely needs to be improved. This is because we had to keep stopping and changing the camera position, as we weren't using the 180 degree rule correctly. We could also try using different types of shots, as we only used two-shots and over-the-shoulder shots. By using different shots, it gives different angles of the conversation and makes the scene more interesting for the audience, instead of having the watch the action from the same angle all of the time. One of the main problems with our film was the space we used. We had chosen to use the classroom as our set, however unfortunately there were other people in the classroom still, and you can occasionally see them moving around in the background.

If we had the money and equipment, and were able to re-film our clip like a big Hollywood film, I would change several things. First of all, I would use actors in our film. This is because we were nervous and would laugh when being filmed, as we weren't used to it and didn't really want to be filmed. Another thing that could be sorted out is the lighting. In a proper studio or set, there would be lighting so that the whole set is lit correctly. As we only had sunlight and the ceiling light on our set, the light changed in some of the shots. With professional equipment, we would also be able to get rid of the useless background noise which came from other people around us.

In conclusion, I think with the equipment provided we did quite well with our film, but if more professional equipment was available to us, our film could have been even better.
